Surf Riding

My Other People’s Words for today are from My Utmost for His Highest (Oswald Chambers).  Every year, when I come to this particular devotion, I have a little celebration.  I love these words because I know them to be true.  The challenges of life can be the very things that make it the beautiful adventure that our hearts long for.

“The surf that distresses the ordinary swimmer produces in the surf-rider the super-joy of going clean through it.  Apply that to our own circumstances, these very things– tribulation, distress, persecution, produce in us super-joy;  they are not things to fight.  We are more than conquerors through Him in all these things, not in spite of them, but in the midst of them.”

Are you are a surf-rider today?  Or are you standing on the shore imagining the exhilaration of “going clean through” a wave?  Either way, I pray that you would be showered in the kind of grace that allows you to see the obstacles of life as a challenge.  Challenging you to be a better version of yourself than you have ever been.  Then, you will turn the rogue wave into a beautiful dance of board and salt water sprays.   And, we will be standing on the shore applauding the beauty that you have just created.
